Keeping A Gift Card And Its Code Safe

What should I do if I think someone else has seen my gift card code?

Answered by Mukesh

Use the card as soon as you can, because most gift card codes work for anyone who has them. If you can redeem the code into your own account on the brand website or app, do that straight away. Once it sits in your account, the code on its own is usually no longer enough for someone else to spend the balance. If the brand does not let you store a balance in an account, then spending the remaining amount on something you want is the safest next step.

After that, check the balance to see whether anything has already been used. If the balance looks wrong, contact the brand that issued the card rather than us first, because the brand is the one that holds the record of where and when the code was spent. They can tell you what happened and whether anything can be done.

Please be honest with yourself about the risk here. Brands generally treat a gift card like cash, so if a code has already been spent by someone else, a replacement is not guaranteed. Whether you get any help depends on the brand, on their policy, and sometimes on how long ago it happened. We cannot promise an outcome on their behalf.

We can still help on our side. Get in touch with us and we can confirm the details of your purchase and send you proof of the order, which the brand may ask for. If the code was never delivered or never worked from the start, tell us that clearly, because that is a different problem and we may be able to sort it out directly.
